Our March featured artist is Raïssa Bump. She received a BFA in metals from Rhode Island School of Design in 2003 and studied jewelry with Giampaolo Babetto at Alchimia in Florence, Italy. Raïssa is actively involved in the contemporary jewelry field and is skilled at making both intricate one-of-a-kind pieces and beautiful edition collections. She exhibits nationally, teaches workshops at Penland, Haystack & Arrowmont and is co-chair of the board of Art Jewelry Forum. In 2015 she founded Reset. The mission of Reset is to educate others to be attentive to their bodies’ signals and provide them with practical Self-Tuning techniques so that they can continue creating. She grew up in the Hudson Valley region of NY and currently lives and works in San Francisco, CA.
Raïssa's collections are made in tandem with one-of-a-kind pieces. She is environmentally conscious of her artistic practice and materials used in her jewelry studio and uses 100% recycled metals, citrus pickles, and biodegradable soaps. Raïssa investigates patterns, weave structures, and nature. Exploring beauty as in both our inner and outer worlds.
"With my jewelry collections I continue my investigation of patterns, weave structures, architecture and nature. I allude to these explorations without suggesting a literal reference. This work reminds of the familiar. I find it to be about taking a second look—noticing the delicate catching of light, reflection of color, simple twist or facet. Very wearable in nature the work is versatile and elegant." - Raïssa Bump
Raïssa's collection is currently on view in the gallery and can be viewed online. We are located at 4011A Allston Street in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati.
