Glossy will be a jewelry exhibition made by artist jewelers from around the world. The exhibition will debut at JCK Las Vegas in the Plumb Club Pavilion, May 31 – June 4 and continue to be exhibited in cities and venues throughout the United States. This exhibition is created and curated by Jenna Shaifer, Director of Ombré Gallery.
The exhibition will feature contemporary art jewelry inspired by the images and messages presented in fashion magazines, also known as “glossies,” for the paper on which they are printed. Glossies serve as a vital communication tool for messaging in the fashion industry. They are a conduit between the maker and consumer, not only conveying a designers vision in an upcoming season, but also pitch the forecast in trends for beauty, color, texture, pattern, and form. Editorials touch on celebrity, art, films, literature, social issues, and current events – capturing the zeitgeist of our times.
Each season, glossies lay out carefully curated images that generate excitement and move consumers to action, magnifying the medium’s power in the fashion field. As with other traditional media, glossies have also made the move online to digital platforms, expanding their reach globally. High-end fashion has become increasingly accessible and has moved beyond serving only one segment of society. Magazines democratized the way in which we put a lens on fashion, which is more inclusive and celebrates street style and the inevitable fast fashion.
Our objective is to have the Glossy exhibition bring attention, curiosity, playfulness, discussion, and expand the interest of art jewelry at the Plumb Club Experience. We want the environment of the exhibition to be an educational experience for attendees. Ideally, they will learn about contemporary art jewelry, gallery display, and inspire many to enhance their in-store experience.
